Constitution Day: Big Ideas — The founding of America has been called a grand adventure in ideas. Our Founding Fathers knew how to share, analyze, and debate ideas respectfully. As students move through life, it will be important that they listen to and share ideas with others, debate ideas respectfully, and most importantly, pay attention to how ideas influence them and the choices they make.

Constitution Day: Extraordinary Possibilities — On this day when the nation pauses to consider the significance of the U.S. Constitution, students have the opportunity to consider two important notions: 1) they live in one of the freest and most prosperous nations in the world, and 2) it is a nation full of extraordinary possibilities created by ordinary people.

Constitution Day: Hope of Liberty — Constitution Day, September 17th, is a good opportunity for students to reflect on the hard work and dedication of our founding fathers who created the U.S. Constitution. The men showed perseverance, responsibility, cooperation, and commitment. Students consider the idea that a democracy must have future generations who are willing to cultivate these character traits in order to thrive and remain free.

Grandparents' Day: Wisdom from Our Elders (first Sunday after Labor Day) — One of our nation's greatest resources is the wisdom of those who have walked farther down the path of life, but sadly, we don't always foster relationships between our young people and the elderly. This plan will help students better understand how they can benefit from the wisdom of those who have a link to the past.

Hispanic Heritage Month: Advantages of Being Bilingual — People who speak two languages can be a big help to everyone. They can build a bridge of understanding between people who wouldn't be able to talk to each other otherwise. Fun and thought-provoking activities for all grade levels, some recommended books, and discussion generators that will help your students understand the benefits of being bilingual.

Hispanic Heritage Month: Finding the Dream — Hispanic Heritage Month is time for celebrating the achievements of Hispanic-Americans. Vice Admiral Antonia Novello is one such American. She was the first woman and the first Hispanic Surgeon General of the United States. Based on her advice to young people, students explore the contributions of Hispanic-Americans and the character traits required to achieve the American Dream.

Labor Day: The Benefits of Hard Work — Each day honorable people across America get up and go to work. Students will discuss all the many different types of jobs in the community, jobs that make their lives easier. Fun activities are included for all grades on campus. Great book recommendations that deal with jobs, careers, and the benefits of hard work.
Key Ideas: All honest work should be respected. We benefit each day from the work of others.

National School Success Month: Learning to Learn — Learning how to study not only helps students become better learners, it can help them become better people. This message and lesson plan provide students with the opportunity to consider all the great benefits that come with learning strong study skills.

September 11 ( Patriot Day) 10th Anniversary: There Is More Good Than Bad in Our World — Although there are bad people in our world, there are many more doing good things every minute of each day. Students will explore the idea that we can all be inspired by the positive actions of others during a time of disaster. Recommended books and discussion generators that help students focus on the good that comes from bad.
Key Idea: Even though there are bad people in the world, most people are good, kind, and brave.
